Eddy County, New Mexico

Another shot of the amazing grassland and Chihuahuan scrub South of Carlsbad, New Mexcio. This habitat is great for a lot of things – most of what I found there were Western Diamondbacks with a much darker coloration than is typical here in Arizona. I know there are also Prairie Rattlesnakes here, but I did not see any in this particular area. I hope to get back soon and change that.

Wind and grass.

Bryan…..Saw your comment on an older post on another blog and decided to check you out. I’m not a snake enthusiast like you, but really enjoyed looking at your pictures. The close-ups are amazing! I have disturbed garter snakes while raking and it’s fun to witness their fierceness. I think an encounter with a rattlesnake would be another story. I have the live and let live attitude…from a distance. Will be visiting your blog again. Thanks for sharing.
