Desert Nightsnake

A Desert Nightsnake (Hypsiglena chlorophaea) from the same trip as the previously mentioned Black-Tailed Rattlesnake. Although slightly venomous, they’re completely harmless and I’ve never had one attempt to bite me. I love their big cat-eyes.

Here’s the same little snake sitting on top of my ripped up fingernail. Fancy little guy.

One Response to “Desert Nightsnake”

  1. Love these little nightsnakes. I have actually been bitten one time, and I am probably the only person on the planet to have been enevenomated by one. It caught me in the web between my index finger and thumb. The site was red, and itchy for about 2 hours, and that was it. I’ve had worse reactions of gartersnake bites.

Anyhow…just simply amazing photography. Thanks for taking me with you…
