A Big Milipede

This milipede was out cruising around a wash North of Phoenix on a cold, wet morning. Can any arthropologists out there help me out with the species?

  1. Looks like the Arizona desert millipede (Orthoperus ornatus) – also called rainworm because of their tendency to come out after rains.

  2. Bryan says:

Awesome, thanks Ted! The bit about the rain is certainly accurate, though I tend to see them more by time of year than moisture levels.
