The camo is especially effective in the low sun of late-day. I realized that I would never even see these guys if they didn’t always run off when I approach. Someone should tell them to stay put, because they’re way too easy to catch … even by big slow herpers like me.

Well, they don’t really ‘cry’ it so much as shoot it with precision. It seems to be, as I’ve read, used more on coyotes than other animals. For all the horned lizards I’ve picked up over the years, only one has squirted me, and it was surprising how much came out of that little guy.
